after two whole days of non-stop travel, i finally arive safely to my destination, Pasuquin, Philippines. i am introduced to family and friends of family that respect and love my grandmother wholeheartedly. never would i have thought that i had so many relatives here in the philippines- it's pretty incredible. slowly, i am learning the local dialect, Ilokano. yesterday, i was coronated as Ms. Balikbayan, which means "Going back to the home town." i was placed on a float today, escorted by my cousin, Richard. we ran out of candy so i started tearing my bouquet a part, throwing pieces of flowers into the crowd. it was a great feeling to be part of the community and "back home," although i've never been here before.

having an absolute blast riding the motor-tricycles, jeepneys, and kalesas. went up to the mountains today and saw all of pasuquin, a town of pride, salt, and garlic! also went to a beach called "sexy beach" and touched the China Sea!! increible.

weather is nice and warm here. actually rather hott. got bitten by a few mosquitos. and yes, they're feeding me well. lots of rice, fish, and bibinka. ohh yes, i mustnt forget about the chicken adobo=)

ill report in couple of days again, right before i depart for shanghai to meet alice.

ahhhhh.. this is crazy and i am loving every second of it!
