Well, here I am in Dublin. It's been a long day. This morning (from my perspective) I was cuddling with Arvin and trying not to think about the rest of the day. I had my cry in the morning, which was good because it meant I didn't completely fall apart at the airport. We did hang on to each other for a long time, though, and I dashed back for one more hug at the last minute. Then I went into security. I looked back and saw him trying to see me. Then he turned away and so did I.

In a weird, hyper mood I went through security. Toronto Pearson Airport is huge--there are three giant, airy terminals and I had to take a shuttle bus from Terminal 1 to yet another departure terminal. In the lounge I met up with Katherine, a girl I'd been e-mailing via SWAP. We didn't really hit it off but I think we were both pretty glad to have someone else there. I didn't sleep much on the flight, but watched the movie instead--The Day After Tomorrow. Not sure about the science, and the story was pretty standard but better than I expected. The food wasn't, of course. I think my supper was salmon but it was hard to tell.

First impressions of Ireland: Sunny! First bus was a double-decker (we rode on the top, at the front--I've always wanted to). It was pretty scary because the bus had a flat front and of course was on the left side of the road, so I was sure we were going to run into somebody sooner or later, but we didn't. After some conflicting directions and a longer-than-expected walk, I finally made it to Kinlay House, my hostel. I've dumped my backpack in their luggage storage (a big room with shelves that's opened every hour on the hour). Now I'm about ready to eat and pore over my Ireland guidebook for a bit, then head out in search of a bank (actually I passed some on the way here). My SWAP orientation is at 11 AM tomorrow. Then I'll go in search of a mobile phone and a phone card so I can make some important phone calls back to some of you guys in Canada. :)

Pass this URL on to other people please...Brenda and the rest of my friends. I won't be e-mailing individually very's astonishing how fast Internet time goes! (4€ an hour here, which I think isn't bad).

Love to (you know who you are). Talk to you later!
