And here we are again :)

To start off we'd like to apologise for yet again no pictures with us in them, we ARE posing and trying... But we seem to have this ability to somehow mess up the picture when we're in them. Some people just are no good at posing ;) (That's our excuse and we're sticking to it! :P)

This is the start of our miniature road-trip. We will be going to a new place almost every day for the next 2 weeks. (Thank god for GPS-units!) To do this we have rented a nice big american car... Well... that was the plan... The American car turned out too small for all our luggage (Must be all those tacky souvenirs for people ;)) So we upgraded in size and now have a Hyundai Sonata to cruise around in :D BUT it has a Texas licence plate. It however didn't come with a complementary gun or even a gun-rack :(

Our destination was San Jose, where we were going to meet up with Jennifer (a friend of Trude's), but we wanted to do a little sight-seeing before going there. So we drove in the complete opposite direction and went to Muir Woods just north of San Francisco. Muir woods is a lovely forest filled with REALLY big trees called Redwoods. (Otherwise known as Sequoias.) The ones at Muir Woods are of the coastal variety, which are the tall and slim ones. The Sequoias in Yosemite National Park, where we are intending to stop too, are the thicker ones. So if you think these are big... (Of course pictures never do these things justice... Go see them for yourselves!!! :P)
Muir Woods is a fairly big area and we followed one of the shorter pathways through the woods so we wouldn't be too late arriving in San Jose. We still managed to see some gorgeous surroundings filled with HUGE Sequoias growing along a shallow little stream. (Some more pictures of the surroundings are at the bottom of this page of course ;))

In order to get to San Jose we had to cross the Golden Gate Bridge again and we took the opportunity to stop on the north side (The Marin Headlands) of the bridge and photograph it from yet another angle. (Anyone sick of this bridge yet? There will be other bridges later on in the holiday :P)

When we finally met up with Jennifer we checked out the mall in San Jose where they actually had commercials for Botox injections right then and there without an appointment (!). Then we had some dinner at The Cheesecake Factory (These american meals really are big and great value for money for travellers!) and went back to her place and played Trivial Pursuit until midnight. (Those baseball questions really are obscure to us poor Europeans :))

Well... next up is Monterey... (Maybe we can pose with some seagulls or sea-otters :D)
So *hugs* to everyone and onwards to the next photo-opportunity! :)

(Why exactly did we decide to go to the hottest regions at the hottest time of year? Anyone know?)

wow - what amazing colours !! the tentacly thing reminds me of the Dalek overlord tho - in the whole ONE episode that I have watched of Dr Who since I was six :P. Trude better keep a close eye on her new friend or he might get 'adopted' by some random passerby - he is VERY cute :)
Thats a pretty good FG impersonation you got going there Martijn :) Im afraid the two pairs of shoes gave the game away tho *wink*.
And yup - Im struggling to find Frank in any of those pics too - you didnt tie him to one of those trees and we have to play 'spot the nesting ducks' again ??
