Welcome to the last chapter in the 'Mother/Daughter Tour of Europe & Beyond'.
Our last week in Phuket & Bangkok were quite relaxing. After a long '30hr' day with our flight from London to Phuket via Hong Kong & Bangkok including a 5 hour delay in Bangkok we eventually arrived at the Karona Beach Resort & Spa at Karon Beach and slept for at least 14 hours.
When we eventually surfaced it didn't take us long to find the very welcome pool, mai tais/pina coladas and fine thai food. The 30 degree+ heat took a little getting used to, but after experiencing a bit too much sun in the first couple of days decided to keep away from the beach and spend more time around the pool where it was more shady and have our massages/facials/pedicures/manicures/& foot scrubs in air-conditioned comfort, then hitting the shops abouts 10pm - a great 5 days.
Our last 2 days in Bangkok were interesting!! Again very hot, but Emma was determined to show me some highlights (including all the smells) so we visited the Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha & a few other Temples via the Sky Train & a River Cruise. I must admit I was taken aback by the grandeur of it all, but I think Bangkok is one place I don't want to spend 6 months.
I think by now we are both looking forward to packing our cases for the last time and heading home.
Thank you all for reading my travel sagas - see you when I eventually surface in Sydney sometime before Christmas!

Dear Winifred
Wow the trip has gone so quick. It appears you are having a lovely time in Thailand. It sounds very relaxing.I could imagine myself falling asleep having that massage.(the pedicure I would most likely give a miss).Your adventures have been followed with much delight.I suppose you will have endless tales and photos to show everyone. It will most likely takre you 3 months to get around to everyone to tell them of the trip in finer detail.I am looking forward to catching up with you.Talking about Thai food has suddenly made me hungry.Lunch is only an hour away. Thanks for the updates.
Love and Regards
Garry
