As promised, here is the financial summary from the Italy trip. A few things I found interesting - though I thought we were spending a lot on food, it averaged out to $25 a day. While still high, c'mon. This is Italy. It could've been worse. Lodging averaged out to $44.45 a day (expected), and travel to $21. I think the last number is unnecessarily high, due to those train passes. Am pretty sure we could've saved almost $100 by not having them and just buying tickets as we went. The other surprising category (sort of) was communications - $215.50 over a span of a month. That's internet and phone, with a bump in the phone due to using one whole phone refill to call the States numerous times when my check card was stolen.

Daily, it came to about $117 a day, plus plane tickets of $855.

Following are a few graphs, because I like to do that sort of thing.

This is the graph of how the money was broken down into the major categories.

This one split the country of Italy in half, with Rome as the last "northern" city, to see if the rumors about the southern half of Italy being cheaper were true. (They are, partially because there're fewer entrance fees and exhibits down south.) It was also true that travel days were cheaper than staying in both northern and southern Italy.

This last one factors in London, just for kicks.

My budget skills could definitely improve, but I don't think we did too poorly for seeing almost every major sight in Italy.
