So I arrived and was basically exhausted, that's why I didn't add an entry for the 30th. The next we went to meet our friends Daniel and Nadia in Taoyuan. We were planning on having a barbecue, but due to the rain we just grabbed snacks at the ever present 7-Eleven and played poker all night.
Taoyuan is a larger suburb of Taipei, technically it's own city and county. It takes roughly an hour to get there using public transportation. It would probably be half the time if we had a car.
Due to the late hour we stayed at their place, the window was open and mosquitoes there are here a plenty. We had breakfast the next morning at Debbie's, a restaurant a couple blocks away that has a western diner flare to it. Big dogs are becoming more and more popular as pets here. During our morning nutrition intake a lady had her golden retriever climb into the small space between her scooter seat and the steering apparatus. Everyone in the diner stared as she proceeded to climb onto the seat and drive away, her dog's tail dragging on the ground. I imagine is wasn't comfortable for either of them, but the dog seemed happy enough. Taoyuan isn't terribly interesting but the people are friendly.
