I know you’re jealous. It’s ok. It’s a completely understandable reaction. How many people get to visit South America for six months in one of the greatest cities in the world and take only pass/fail credit? Not many.

Also, while few may be able to travel in such fashion, an even fewer number of those few score a free seat next to them in coach for a 10-hour flight, along with a free glass of wine and a Jack on the rocks at 30,000 feet (see pictures). So it’s ok. You can be more jealous. It’s perfectly natural.

When I got to the gate in Charlotte to hitch a flight to Atlanta, we were supposed to leave at 5:07pm. Unfortunately, thunderstorms in Atlanta held us up for about an hour and a half. We left around 6:30pm, got into the gate at Atlanta around 7:50pm, and I ran over to another terminal to catch my connection to Buenos Aires. The boarding pass said that the flight would be boarding at 7:50pm, but I sat there until about 9:20 before we actually boarded the flight. Glad that a mechanical or something in Charlotte didn’t make me miss the one flight to B.A. yesterday!

I’m grateful that Emory was able to set this program up, and I look forward to being the guinea pig for the new exchange with ISEDET. I figure that as long as I stay away from soccer riots and keep a low profile, I should have a dandy time (I’m not joking about the soccer riot thing – when Bógota beat River Plate [one of Buenos Aires’ premier soccer teams] at home last week, there was rioting in the streets and the police had to come out to prevent the rioters from coming into the city center. Such passion! : ) Right now I’m looking forward to putting my Spanish to use in a couple of hours when the plane lands, and hoping that I can use it well enough to get a decent deal on a remi taxi to get over to ISEDET’s campus from the Ezeiza Airport without too much hassle.

The sunrise looks quite fantastic. It reminds me that we serve an awesome Creator. The free wine and Jack on the rocks also reminds me that we serve an awesome Creator. Please enjoy the pictures. I’m looking forward to meeting the folks at ISEDET in person, and digging into some good beef and wine later today (yum).
Oh, and sunrise picture #1 is for boo. It’s the best one I caught. : )
