What a trip!! One of, if not the best motorbike route I've ever seen and done... Matches or maybe betters the Laos Luang Prabang to Vientianne trip...

The initial plan was to head north to Hue, come inland to A Loui and down the highland Ho Cho Minh Trail route but Mr. Boung, the easy rider guy told me the route from Hue inland to A Loui was a bad road. We had also breezed through Hoi Ann which is south of here Da Nang on the coast too and this is where Vietnam is famous for excellent tailored clothing and footwear, made to spec and at great prices too. When we stopped I looked at some footwear options as I realise I need something maybe a little hard wearing yet protective for my feet for on the motorbike so saw some leather shoes/sandals they would make for $50. They do this by having catalogues of western shoe designs and you just pick one, then pick a material swatch and they take your measurements and make em there and then within the hour if need be. You then try, they adjust and bang.. You have a custom, One off pair of shoes.

So I thought I would go to Hue for one day? Then back to Danang and see everyone again for a few days and play footy again and then go to Hoi An for the shoes.

The trip over was stunning and a beautiful day, the only problem being that when I tried taking my first photo the camera told me the battery was dead - gutted - forgot to charge it!! With the charger at Da Nang and any new battery bought in Hue needing to be charged before use, I was left with my iPhone for photos and decided I would enjoy the trip to Hue and take photos on the way back. Unfortunately the way back was raining or quite dark but the scenery was still stunning and I was lucky to see the views in contrasting weather conditions.

Hue was a bit disappointing. Very touristy and with loads of annoying touts. Glad I only stayed a day but on the drive back I decided to take an off coast alternative back to the hoi can pass and do glad I did, driving on a small road through loads of villages and rice fields, Seeing local life and Farming, it was excellent and very humbling and I don't mind admitting had the occasional lump in my throat from the beauty, friendliness and generally feeling extremely lucky to be there on my motorbike, doing what I always dreamed about and experiencing what I was experiencing...

So I hope you like the iPhone photos anyway and when in Da Nang tomorrow I will buy a spare battery and keep fully charged with the camera, the benefit being that if not in the camera it keeps its charge so I shouldn't have the camera problem again..

Love to you all.. X
