I found out last night that Zion will issue a $100 fine if someone is caught feeding the squirrels. I think that is outrageous – why, that's almost as much as a middle class squirrel makes in a year!!

Besides that.  Today we kick back and get ready to pack up camp and head to Bryce Canyon NP tomorrow.  Alan and Cara took their own sweet time getting up and out today, so we had some nice quality time.

Then when it was time for my nap in the air conditioning, Alan and Cara set off to pay their final visit to the place called Zion.  They hiked up to the Weeping Rock – a great example of hanging gardens.  That’s where the water that seeps out of the sandstone creates the perfect environment for maiden fern, orchids, columbine and other plants to grow straight from the sandstone wall.  Year round water makes the whole area a pleasant retreat in this scorching weather.  Then they did the easy trail through the meadows to the Zion lodge where they had lunch.  After that, and in the bitter heat of the day, they walked the last 1.5 miles back to the camp – and along the way took time out to play in the irresistible Virgin River – so many swimming and wading places along the way.

As they were sitting on the waters edge – butt and legs in the river – Cara got a Fish pedicure.  Believe it or not, people actually pay for this kinda thing.  Little fishes come up to your feet and nibble at your skin.  She thought it was creepy.

Well, not much else to report today.  Like I said, we are off to Bryce tomorrow and moving into some cooler weather – in fact – some of the forecasts call for the low 30’s at night.  I hope Alan packed my Sweatshirt!!!
