Friday morning was my day to head home. Here's how it went.

Start: Travel Lodge, Mill Valley

Bus to Financial District, downtown San Francisco – 30 minutes/$3.95

Short walk to Ferry Bldg for Breakfast, then take trolley to Cal Train station in front of the Ballpark

Cal Train to San Jose 1.5 hrs/ $7.75

Hwy 17 Express Bus to downtown Santa Cruz 45 min/$4

City Bus #69A to Capitola Mall 20 min/$1.50

City Bus #55 to a block from where I live 15 min/ $1.50

I am happy to report that it was easy, painless, cheap and the people I met were cheerful and quasi normal (well, I was there).

Opening my door felt strange and somewhat undesirable.  Yes, I longed for my shower and all the hot water I could get out of my tankless heater.  Yes, I was dreaming of cooking again in my own kitchen while listening to NPR and sipping a glass of Champagne.  Still, something felt oddly wrong.  It all felt familiar, but no longer homey.

I guess my heart is already caught up on my next travel - April means spring is official and I want to go see the wildflowers in Utah’s incredible parks – Zion, Escalante and Hell’s Backbone Grill in Boulder.

I have to stay home in March to study Italian and do laundry.  Ciao.

How long did you stay in Mill Valley? Any special places or people that you'd recommend? Is it the travel bug in you that made coming home less homey? I'd love to catch-up with you and your adventure.
