This morning as I was having coffee it was obvious the weather was changing. Dark, thick clouds were forming and the wind was coming up.  Like Mary Poppins, I knew it was time to go.
I did my rounds of good-byes to all my fellow SoloTrekkers and unplugged.  This week has been fun and I'm really glad I met all these folks, but the road is calling.
As I approached Tucson the rains began and as I rounded the Whetstone Mountains the winds were bouncing me all over the road.  I pulled into Kartchner Caverns State Park around 2pm and got one of the last campsites.  As I write the winds are pushing the van back and forth, the rain pounds on the windows and, of course, it’s leaking.  Oh well.  The storm should pass tonight and I hope to get in some good hiking and a cavern tour or two before I leave on Monday.
I learned some amazing things from the SoloTrekkers group – here are some of my favorites:

Don’t ever let yourself be afraid on the road

Some of the best cheap one-nighter boondocking places include – hospital parking lots, elks clubs (gotta join first), 24 fitness, classy looking neighborhoods.

Happy Hour is everyday at 4pm

Never pass up a potluck

Strap it down or it will rattle

Silver backed bubble wrap makes great window insulation for heat and cold

A solar panel is no good without an inverter

And, I gotta visit The Slabs!!
