Returned to hotel on motorbike to escape the afternoon heat. I felt like fainting in this impossible heat. If only we can capture all these free heat and export it to Melbourne in winter. Later in the evening after drastically reducing my body temperature in cool showers, I managed to catch up with my singaporean friend Justin for dinner. It was delicious streetside seafood ala carte style and later some good curry with french toasts at Nguyen Trai street. We then hit the bar near Diamond Plaza for drinks.
Slept in till 10am before heading out to Ben Thanh Market. Visited many city highlights including Revolutionary Museum, Renunification Palace, Cathedral Notre Dame, War Remnants Museum and History Museum. All the exhibits relating the American War are obviously anti-american. War crimes commited by US in Vietnam are heavily focused in the exhibitions. Needless to say, there are none on similar atrocities commited by the communist to the South Vietnamese. South vietnamese saw the war as a communist invasion while the north deemed it as a renunification and liberation of the south. American war criminals were largely brought to justice in the International Courts but what about the war crimes commited by the North? There is no closure for the south victims.
