Howdy Y'All,

After a few days relaxing in Phoenix we headed on to our ranch in the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. Lordy Missy it was true cowboy country! On arrival we donned our Stetsons (thanks Y'all) and set about joining in the jamberee around the camp fire with Mike the cowboy. Wilma played tambourine and I played Bass. The following day was the biggy - helicopter trip over the grand canyon. Wilma and I were given prime seat at the front of the "Bird". The pilot soon wished he was elsewhere - we were glad he wasn't as there was a lot of controls. As we took off Wilma went a funny shade of pale and showed her teeth in what can only be described as a grimmace. Not long into the flight she began to enjoy herself and her lips actually made the shape of a smile. Just at that moment the ground below disappeared as we flew over the edge of the canyon. - here comes that grimmace again! At 1 mile deep there was quite a crevace below. The views were spectacular and I don't think words can describe what you see. Take a look at the photos! After the flight the Bird dropped us off and we had lunch back at the ranch before heading down the dusty dirt track to the West Rim for the "Sky Walk". Wilma and I completed this with great success although we did put on a display of fear for the other folks just for entertainment. This was all good until some brainless wonders began jumping on the platform - all very funny unless you're stood on it with them. Seems the glass is quite strong after all!
We ended the day with a horse treck to watch the sunset over spirit mountain with a glass of the fizzy stuff. My horse didn't work well but hey ho it was fun.
Yesterday we took a slight detour and drove to the south rim of the canyon. Although it meant a total driving time of around 8 hours we were both really glad we did it. The south rim was quite different from the west as it is much wider we drove all along the edge stopping at the vantage points as we were trying to take it all in. We can bore you with our amateur photos when we get home.
Right now we're in Monument Valley just about to head off to learn about the strange rock formations and the Navajo indians that live here. We'll fill you in on all of that in our next installments. Bet you're grippin the seats of your saddles in anticipation!!
See Y'all Later. Big Chief Wilma she say " 'ang on, we'll go in a minute, I'm just doin' my nails!"
