DIARY EXTRACT - a snippet from cobs diary

On this trip i've learnt sometimes you just have to get over it otherwise youll miss out on a great experence. let me share.
Something we've been faced with right from china is having to take a number 2's 'poos'.
now you might think no worries just bowl down to the loo, well in china there was a normal western toilet but right next to it was a squatter. now me an dan werent going to pass up this opportunity. after praticing our technique a few times i went firist >>>> not too bad, only one small misshap which i warned dan about and he nailed it. so all in all a must try if you're in china.
Now with our newly learnt skills it was time to take them to the next level. when we hit our  mongolian ger lodge thee was no opption other than a squatter. it looked like an out back long drop from the outside and inside it was a carpet covered plank with a rectangle cut out for doing your business thru. now heres where the skill comes in, growing from the bottom of the whole was an extelicmight AKA the "poo tower " this provided an excellent target! took us a while but by the end of our stay there we were on the money!!! also time was an issue because at -18'c pants down... the cold starts to bite.

Russia was somthing different again this toilet was kind of like what we we're use to except the water hole was at the front and the catching dish was raised at the back, good if you're wanting to take a sample.
one of the weirdest things that dan and i are having troble getting over is after wiping your expected to put your waste paper in a bin next to the toilet, filth if you ask me!!

Now theres one last area id like to touch on and that is toileting on the train. firistly the toilets are sapose to be locked about 30min from any station this is because when you flush the deposits all go straight on the tracks. secondly the train tends to rock, so good footing is crucial when taking number ones sometimes even a bracing off the wall is necessary.
We both made a habbit of somehow being in the toilet when coming into a station. During dans time in the toilet he did manage to flush his but we're pretty sure it was still under one of the carriges when we came to a standstill. as for mine the train stpped and for some reason the toilet wouldn't even flush so we've called that one the splat and gap, a cheeky wee surprise for the next person.

thats all so far,

over and out, cobs
