Since we boarded at night it was pretty much strait off to sleep for us, we had one other guy in our cabin who only spoke Russian but his son spoke English so we had a mean convo before bed. then just as we were falling aslep another chap joined us in our room, 4/4 full house. Come morning both cobs and i wake up and notice our fellow has changed, turns out his family were alloted beds in another cabin so he swapped beds with a guy from their cabin. And that was our crew for the train trip, it was gong to be our longest stretch, 51 hrs, so having good companions was key. they turned out to be awesome, one spoke a bit of english and that was all we needed, had some mean yarns, learnt how to play this game called do-rag and just had a good time chilling. Went passed quite quickly. As we nearned Ekateringburg we were lokin over our tickets and realised the didn't quite marry up with our itinerary, we we would be leaving the morning of the 31st and arriving the night of the 1st, we'd spend the whole new years on the train, not good!! So we bagan hunting out alternatives. There was an english guy on the train with an onward ticket from Ekateringburg to Moscow that got him there before new years, we had hope. We quickly contacted the son of the original guy in our room called andrew adna sked him if we could swap our current ticket to moscow for an ealier one. Had a big yarn with his family and they thought yes if we did it as soon as we got to Ekateringburg we would be able to. Got real excited (planning is dans thing), planned up a storm, packed our bags and then joined the family for a game of do-rag and then scum(cabosta(means cabbage) we named it in Russian). They were an awesome family and we had a mean time, really took us under there wing, cobs even got professiional training in do-rag. When we left the train they all came out and said goodbye, definately our Russian family. Plus the son is actually a singer and will be performing at a festival in St Petersburg on the 6th, so we've teed up to go and see him!! Whoop. At the train station we met our Ekateringburg guy who helped us change the tickets over without a hitch, Moscow here we come.

And that brings us to Ekaterigburg. We had arragned to stay in a summer house so we whiped off there strait away, great little place really. It was the guy from the train stations own house and was a mean place to stay. Started off with a midnight dinner of bread, salted pork fat, salted mackeral in oil, rice rissoto, sweet bread with jam, beer(in a 1.5L bottle) and a bit of Green tea to fnish it off. Then about 2 in the norning we finlly hit the hay with rather full bellies and a fantastic feeling of satisfaction. Slept right through till 9 when we woke up to a primo brekfast of eggs, sausages and the bread we couldn't finish. And sadly that was it for the summer house, because we're leaving early it was in and out. We both felt we could stay at this place a bit longer but all g, we were gong to moscow. Our man dropped us off at the train station at about 10 moscow time (all the trains run on MT) and we stowed our bags away for a bit, then it was off ofr a quick city explore. Took the metro into with the goal of walking bag. Turned out to be a great idea because we got to see this aweome ice palace, walked out in the middle of this frozen lake, got to see the Romanov cathedral (dans goal for Ekateringburg) and then on the last wee stretch we cam accross willy heaven, this really flash shop called BISON which soley sold leather and fur product. Tried to look as rich as we could and whipped in for a quick browse, great place for a wander but not really for a serious buy. Then it was train time, we paid through the nose for this train so we're pleased when it turned out to be the best train we'd been on yet.
