Flag of Mexico  , Yucatan Peninsula,

Dave heard about Majahual from one of his dive instructors in Playa.  It was not in the Lonely Planet which seemed like a very good reason to go there!  It was really empty; we felt like the only tourists in the entire town, which was destroyed by a hurricane a few years ago and had been rebuilt for the cruise ships who stop here (they tell them itīs called "Riviera Maya").

We found this fantastic eatery on the first day called "100% Agave" where Fernando served fantastic and cheap Mexican food and they had a really good book exchange.  We also met some really really nice people, Steve, Terry and Maria, who befriended us at the restaurant by buying us tequila shots (def. the quickest way into our hearts).  Dave was convinced to do some more diving with them and then we spent the day snorkeling and hanging out at Steveīs house further up the peninsula.  Dave caught a barracuda with a hand reel and Steve caught a couple of Conch so we really had a great day.  We also renewed our acquaintance with good tequila and ceviche.
