The day after visiting Clare and the Cliffs of Moher with Alice, we went to Connemara with the car I rented. We took the Connemara's road through Oughterard and arrived at Clifden where we took the Sky Road. It was the second time I went to the Sky Road but this time it was by car and not by walk...more easy :-) The weather was more sunny that the first time and the sights on the sea and Connemara mountains were gorgeous.

After a stop at Letterfrack to have lunch in a pub on the terrace, we reached Diamond Hill which is located quite close to this village. Diamond Hill, in the heat of the Connemara National Park, is part of the Twelve Bens assembly line. There are dedicated footpath to reach the top of the mountain (445 meters) and from there, the panorama on all the Connemara is incredible. You can see all the sea and mountains gorgeous landscapes… You can even sight Kylemore Abbey. Unfortunately, arrived at the top, I just realized I didn’t have any battery on my camera to take pictures. Hopefully I took some great ones before. The ride is approximately 1,5/2 hours to reach the top of Diamond Hill. There is two paths on the park and I really recommend the big one going to the top because even if you have to spend more efforts, the view is a 360 one at the top and as I already said, it is gorgeous.

You will be impressed by the ground in Connemara: because of the water, it's a real sponge. During the walk, some kinds of wooden pontoon were built when the ground is not practicable to avoid people to sink.

During my stay in Ireland, I have been 3 times to Connemara, and the weather was always sunny…very lucky!!
