On leaving the Big 4 Kiama we doubled back on ourselves a little and drove south to take the scenic route inland to Kangaroo Valley. It's a great road - sea-level to about 2500 feet in about a mile - but I wouldn't suggest doing it with a dodgy clutch! Apologies to you if you were behind us that day. On reaching the top the three of us (Debbie, Bumblebee and I) took a rest at a great lookout over the valley.
After we'd recovered from the climb we continued inland and soon reach the quaint village of Kangaroo Valley. It's just one street with a few nice cafes and other touristy shops (We bought fudge and a few other treats). Then we drove out, over the towns famous
suspension bridge (possibly the oldest in Oz) and carried on up the valley to check out some more views and waterfalls etc.
After another equally as trying climb we again reached the top of the escarpment and eventually made it to the awesome Fitzroy Falls. The falls are about 100m high and due the continuing strong winds the water wasn't even making it halfway down. In fact most of it was being blown back over the top and falling on us, stood on the viewing platform, as rain. Charming! After talking a walk to get views from a couple of different angles we headed back to the car.
From there we did a straight run though Sydney's western suburbs and then round to the east till we ended up at out campsite at Lane Cove just to the north of the river.
