We got a tuktuk/bus from Krabi town to Ao Nang - a bustling beachfront town with a HUGE rock next to it. And I mean huge! Actually, there are very many huge rocks around here - which is why this area is so popular with rock climbers, although I hate to say it, we didn't actually try it out!

We found a cool guesthouse with a sea view and so also a view of the HUGE rock! Marvellous! We dumped our stuff and set off to explore the town.

I'm not quite sure how it happened - could have been some strange magnetic force or maybe I passed out for a brief period of time when when I woke up we we in an aircon building surrounded by smiley ladies in aprons selling what appeared to be vast amounts, in all colours and sizes, ICE CREAM! We had found our way (somehow!) into a Swensens Ice Cream Parlour The view from our bedroom

. The rest is a blur but I do recall eating quite a lot of something very chocolately covered in something even more chocolately!  Ahhhhh!  Never again - I promise!

Feeling rather guilty, not to mention sick, we waddled out of our aircon paradise onto the street/oven and continued on our exploration of Ao Nang.  We saw hotel after hotel, fancy restaurants, souvenir shops, spas, nail bars, naughty bars and internet cafes.  That night we scratched our curry itch and found an awesome Indian restaurant with possibly the politest waiter we had ever met and scoffed a gorgeous dinner down.

Nice as it is, Ao Nang is pretty much a family place for people with money so I think we'll be off again tomorrow - continuing on our search for somewhere cheap, cheerful and fairly quiet............
