Easy day today - bit of a sleep-in, walk to the train station, 3 hour train ride to Warsaw, had to pay some extra money to the conductor as I had bought the wrong train tickets on the internet before I left home - when they said "student", they meant "Polish Student", so we had to cough up and extra 103 zloty (about $40) to upgrade the kids to adult tickets - which was better than the 220 zloty each fine for not having the correct ticket!

Arrived in Warsaw early afternoon, checked into the hotel (same one as 4 nights ago), went for a walk to the Palace of Culture and Science, the tallest building in Poland (and 6th tallest in Europe - who knew!). It was a gift from the Soviet Union to the people of Poland, with a design based on The Empire State Building. It is both the most beautiful and ugliest building in Warsaw, depends who you ask - me, or the rest of the family!

Dropped into the train station to find out about tickets to the airport tomorrow - they have 2 train stations in town - Warsaw Centrum (for the metro/underground), and Warsaw Centralna (for all the other trains, local, intercity and international) - or course we were at the wrong one, so that's another job for the morning!

It was dark and we were hungry, so we had a nice light tea at a salad bar on the way back to the hotel... at 4.30pm! Also picked up some pastries to have with coffee later, and back for an easy night - and for KT to wait for Year 12 results to come out, 10.00pm Polish time!
