Clouds cover the sun again. Up front on the boat, I'm getting the best view and setting the paddling pace, but getting the brunt of the cold waves. By midday and a lunch stop, we're all shivering and huddle round a quickly raised fire. As predicted, the rapids today are not menacing, but the scenery is fine - waterfalls, dripping ferns, tall sprouts of bamboo, vultures, kingfishers and villages of waving children.
Much time is spent loading and unloading boats, setting up camp and cooking. The trip downriver could probably have been completed in two days, but the camps are friendly, the food good and the setting sublime.
