The next morning we had a quick look around Fisherman's wharf, but since neither of us were in the mood for a boat trip or clam chowder we left dissapointed and headed on to the 17 mile drive and Pebble Beach. Will had sneakily booked himself in for a 9-hole playing lesson at Spanish Bay, one of the 4 main courses that make up the Pebble Beach Resort (the others being Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Del Monte).
He went round with Director of Instruction Dan Pasquariello, who seemed to cure his slice from the first drive...or at least that's what he claimed after Will's first drive flew straight left into the hotel complex
Afterwards it was back to Monterey and the Days Inn. It was nearer the centre of town than the Holiday Inn but was a very basic motel, and the room smelt like a racoon may have been sleeping there the night before. Anyway it was only for night and so we went about unpacking... it was then we realised that a suit bag containing Will's new suit (especially bought for pending christenings) and all Luce's nice dresses, had not made the trip from the Holiday Inn. After speaking to the very unhelpful and feminine sounding chap on reception, we learned that the person who dealt with lost property couldn't help until the next morning.
So it was with our fingers crossed we headed out for dinner at a local tapas restaurant. We were served by a very friendly Scottish, scouser from Birmingham who had come out to California chasing a bird. After 2+ bottles of wine and some lovely food we headed home with not a care in the world.
