Treasure Island by night
We left Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard the next morning, and headed out along the highway in the 40 degree heat in search of Vegas. Outside Treasure Island
But first we wanted to find somewhere for breakfast..after 4 unsuccessful detours and an hour later than we wanted, Lucie asked an embarrased no-star assistant at a random McDonalds if there was 'anything healthy on the menu!?!'...he sympathised with us and we ended up with a not too bad chicken wrap each for brekkie. The Venetian
We arrived on Las Vegas strip mid afternoon and after taking one look at the check-in queues at Treasure Island Luce quickly decided to head straight out to explore the Fashion Show Mall, leaving Will to do the honours.Dinner at Tao
Back at the hotel a few hours later Will had managed to secure us a room upgrade (something to do with talking nicely to the attractive girl on check-in) which was more like a suite and had superb views out over the strip. That evening we had a great meal out at Tao in the Venetian, won at the casino (only $40 but that's not the point) and got free entry to Lavo night club.
Hoover
The next morning we woke up just in time to catch our transfer to Boulder City from where we boarded a small prop plane and after
Inside the Canyon
a bumpy flight over the Hoover Dam, landed at the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. There waiting for us was a helicpoter which then took us down the 4,000 foot drop into the pits of the Canyon and landed us on the banks of the Colorado River. On Guano Point
We had a short cruise up and down the river in 45 degree heat before being picked up by the chopper again. Back up on the Canyon rim, we then boarded a coach which took us to Guano Point for a buffet lunch, some spectacular scenery viewing and rock climbing!
Rock climbing!
The return journey took us back to the strip in time for an hour by the pool and a much-needed mojito cocktail before dinner at Spago in Ceasar's Palace.
Love
We spent out last day in Vegas exploring the great shopping arcades, relaxing by the pool and sipping cocktails in the desert heat. That night we had secured tickets to The Beatles themed "Love" by Cirque de Soleil at the Mirage which was fantastic. Vegas is truly a party paradise and a place to be seen by everyone at least once (a year - Will).
