Everything seemed to be going smoothly as I entered my last week in Poland, that was until I received an email informing me of a change in dates for my job induction in Edinburgh. I managed to change my flights, but unfortunately I found myself flying via Stansted airport in London, turning what is normally a four hour journey into one of almost twelve. Nevertheless, with my laptop and a copy of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, I managed to occupy my time in transit and before long found myself waiting for a train from Prestwick into Glasgow. It was my third time at the small platform looking out to the sea, and also the third time Scotland greeted me with grey clouds and windy weather.

I felt a little nostalgic to be leaving Wroclaw in the end, as summer was in full swing and with uni finished a week earlier I managed to relax and really enjoy my final few days. Scotland was to bring new challenges though. I had four days to chill out and get back into the Western swing of things with Steve and Stace in Glasgow before Steve and I embarked on a week long trip in the Scottish highlands. Without so much as a day to recover I would then make my way an hour north to a small village near Perth, where I was to begin my first Director of Studies position at a summer camp for international students.

I took it pretty easy in Glasgow, wandering around the city and checking out a few sights I hadn't seen, such as the Gallery of Modern Art and the Willow Tea Rooms, designed by Glasgow's famous architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Years ahead of its time, it was a good place to unwind for a few hours with a Paul Auster novel, something I hadn't had the luxury to read for many months. Apart from hitting a few pubs with Steve and Stace and doing a little shopping, the only other major thing I did in the city was to book a flight home to Australia. I had just over two months left to savour the sights and sounds of Europe, before making the three day journey home, via Dubai and Western Australia.
