After a full on summer, working hard in Edinburgh and then living the dream in Malta for three weeks, I found myself in a situation I had never found myself in during my travels. One in which I had no choice but to stay put for a while and get the funds coming back into the bank account. Wroclaw, in the south west of Poland, was my new home and the small, privately owned Queen's School of English my new employer.

Although it's been difficult reading about friends travel experiences and dreaming about where I can go next, the grey skies and cold weather haven't completely dampened my spirits. Wroclaw is a bustling city, perhaps even cosmopolitan by Poland's standards, and after nearly three months here I still find myself discovering new corners of the city. Whether it be on the island of Ostrow Tumski with its numerous churches and dominant cathedral, within the historical centre of the city around Poland's second largest market square or browsing in the huge shopping centre of Pasaz Grunwaldzki, there is plenty to see.

Nevertheless, with Christmas just around the corner there is a little to look forward to with regards to travel. I'll be spending three nights in London with Steve and Stacey at Stacey's sister's place, then Ania and I will be going on a road trip to the Mala Fatra mountains in Slovakia for New Years. 2008 promises to bring a number of new destinations following a lull in my adventures in the latter part of this year. But what a year 2007 has been!
