With just two days left in Malta before I went to Gozo for the remainder of my stay, I had just one place left to see on the big island. The resort town of Bugibba was located on the southern side of St Paul's Bay (named for the saint who was shipwrecked here in AD 60) and although I didn't expect to see anything amazing here, I just had to go otherwise I'd have felt I didn't 'finish' Malta.

The bus followed the same route as that I took to Ghajn Tuffieha, and I jumped off in Bugibba's small terminus. From the onset, I could tell this would probably be the least memorable place I would visit in Malta. The town is the biggest tourist development on the island, and there was nothing to see but an unattractive sprawl of concrete hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops, filled with middle aged British tourists baring as much disgusting old sunburnt flesh as they possibly could.

The promenade was nice enough though, and I spent a good half an hour wandering slowly along it, admiring the views out to St Paul's Islands, with the hundreds of small fishing boats bobbing up and down in the foreground. I found a secluded shady spot to sit for a while and enjoy the view while continuing with 'The Kappillan' and having some lunch. I then continued on to Wignacourt Tower, one of the many 17th century watchtowers built by the Knights of St John to prevent the Turk's from landing.

I only spent a few hours at Bugibba, but I saw enough to feel I'd done it justice. The massive tourist development just wasn't my scene, and given the beach was pretty average I decided to make my way back to Sliema. I only had a day left there before I went to Gozo, and I knew I would be better off saving my energy to see as much as I could there.
