Next we decided to head for hammer springs, only a 2 hour drive away
and was a nice scenic route. thankfully it was nice weather again, so
we decided to go for another forest walk, up to conical point. It was
really nice and took you to the top of the mountain which overlooked
the whole of hammer springs and all the mountains in the distance. Was
fun and is keeping us nice and fit. unfortunately it tipped down in the
afternoon, so we stayed in our snugabug and relaxed. the next day the
weather had cleared up so we decided to have a bit of fun and went
quadbiking. Was great fun, got wet and muddy, and had a good time
trying to get through the rivers as they were extremely deep from the
rain the night before. In the afternnon took advantage of the sun and ended
up having a game of mini golf. We were both as bad as eachother but had
a good laugh, except for ant thinking he was tiger woods.lol.

Our next destination was Fox Glacier, but it was very far away so we
decided to stay in greymouth as a stopover for the night. Was a shitty
little town, so we hogged the TV room, oh yeah. The following day we
headed for Fox Glacier. we were short on food but decided to do our
shopping when we got there, to our horror and stupidity it was a small
town with a population of 200! Meaning the only place there was a poxy
and very expensive little shop. so we starved.lol. As we weren't doing
the glacier trip until the next day we spent the afternoon at the
campsite and had a look around the village. In the evening Jen had a
surprise when she came out of the toilet and saw 2 big green parrots
looking at her. At first we thought they belonged to the owner of the
campsite, however later we saw a poster saying that they are called
Kea's which live in the rainforest behind the campite, we thought they
we really cuteand funny as they come right near you, and are cheeky but
apparently the people who live there hate them because they steal you
stuff,
and destroy your car. The Fox glacier trip was fab lasted about four
hours altogether, you had to walk up through the rainforest to reach to
bottom of the glaciers climbing 500 steps on the way. Then we walked on
the glacier for an hour, had to put spikes on the bottom of our shoes,
and our giude had to make steps with a pick axe as we went. Was really
wierd experience and a great thing to see. The only bad part of the
trip was that it rained on our way back down and we got soaked,
underwear the lot lol.
