India is starting to divide our united front that has held together for 11 months, 8 countries and countless miles.  My initial view of Varanasi on the 'city tour' was 'oh god, not another smelly, crowded sh*t hole', while Brad found it another interesting experience and discussed the ins and outs of the Hindu religion with our guide.

All I could think of was 'poor Benji' who we had taken with us, as I tried to steer him away from curious people intent to touch him, not to mention the odd beggar.  All at the same time as feigning interest in the market we were visiting, which was shut.  I had been warned by the Lonely Planet that Varanasi was the biggest assault on the senses that you would have in India and Varanasi did not disappoint.

After an hour I was desperate to escape back to the hotel, the kids and the pool.  Brad, however, is now following an alternative path in India, and rushed to book himself into yet another yoga session.
