We arrived at about 5 in the morning London time, after little to no sleep. We were now 4 hours ahead of Halifax time, this would later catch up with us. We grabbed our luggage and headed into the city on the public train, during the morning rush hour, with all our bags. What was even more fun was transferring to tube at about 6 am to get into the city center.
We finally arrived at the Royal National however it was much too early for us to check in and the Contiki basement was closed. We checked our bags for free at the Royal National and headed out to find some breakfast! We ended up eating in the cafe in Russell Park. We each had a croissant. Delish and expensive! We headed back to the Contiki basement at 9 and purchased some Hop On, Hop Off Tour bus tickets. Time was slowly catching up but we kept going! We didn't end up hopping off at all and just stayed on the main route. I remember the commentator was hilarious and kept poking fun at famous people. I would do this again when (yes when!) I go back and actually get out and see the sights. We had a nice bus view of them all.. but I would like to explore them. We went back to the Contiki basement and got our sleeping bags and handed in some vouchers. Though which ones they were I'm blanking on. It was then time to check in at the Hotel and I was actually expecting worse. Kinda small but we were only there one night. Creepy photo on the wall though. Gill and I decided we should probably take a quick nap, grap some grub and head to the pre-departure meeting. Our quick nap tuned into 3-4 hours and we just had enough time to get changed and head downstairs. We were a little late and missed the very beginning, we were introduced to our Tour Manager and Driver and then we had to give them our insurance and I THINK our ticket to ride? We would all meet again at 5AM. By this time we were STARVING and headed to the pub attached to the hotel for some food! We got Fish&Chips for £5 and some beer, and then headed up to our room to crash. We watched Coronation Street in real time as opposed to nine months behind, score!
