We barbequed sausages for lunch. I dropped one of the sausages on the ground where the snow had melted around the log fire. I picked up the sausage, wiped it on the snow, place it over the barbeque rack again and fed it to Mooi. She ate it and commented that the sausage tasted better today. Little does she knows! Don't tell her.
We met our fellow skiers again at the log fire. It has become a meeting place for the few of us who frequented the log fires to barbeque our sausages and enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate from our flasks
A little bit more information about Yllas. Yllas has eight seasons instead of four.
Early spring: the days lengthen to become longer than the nights, the crusts of frozen snow shimmer.
Spring: the ice on lakes and rivers melts and the air is filled with the singing of the birds. Some of these birds return from the warmer places they went to escape the harsh winter.
Early summer: plants begin to grow and blossom.
Summer: the nightless night. Hmmm...
Late summer: nature offers up delicacies that include cloudberries (we had lots of these), blue berries and mushrooms.
Autumn colours: as the weather cools, the trees and plants create a symphony of colours.
Early winter: fluttering snowflakes signal the beginning of winter and the Northern Lights. I have yet to witness this.
Winter: Mother Nature rests during the polar night, when the sun never rises.
