Finally, back to Cape Town proper. The weather was a vast improvement on yesterday, warm(ish), with clear blue skies, minimal wind, and just a hint of a Table Cloth descending on Table Mountain. Ideal weather for sundowners on top of the mountain...
... but the Table Mountain National Parks folks had other ideas - the cable car closed at 4:30pm, just before we got there. Either they are the world's worst party poopers, or that extra 600 metres altitude must have made a huge difference. Nevermind...
So after ripping a few pics, it was off to Signal Hill for the sunset, as it turned out, with about 300 of our closest friends. I don't know what the sunset was like from Table Mountain, but Signal Hill had one advantage - you could see Table Mountain from there
Summary on Cape Town - its one of those places which you go into with very high expectations, yet it manages to meet your expectations and still surprise you - like (IMHO) Sydney, Vancouver, and very few other places. It is astoundingly beautiful, from any angle, and every corner brings a new surprise - yet somehow infuriating, in that you always feel like there's something better you might be missing out on.
Let's not talk about the Cape Flats though... our only view of those was from the N2 on the way to the airport - let's just say if you break down, you need to do a freddy flinstone and drive your car by foot power - don't stop under any circumstances.

We stayed for about 2 hours until Cape Town lit up, and the temperature went down.Summary on Cape Town - its one of those places which you go into with very high expectations, yet it manages to meet your expectations and still surprise you - like (IMHO) Sydney, Vancouver, and very few other places.
