Outeniqua pass is (apparently) the most user friendly route from the Garden Route on the coast to the Klein Karoo, the "Little Desert" in the mountains. It's quite an impressive engineering achievement, and a real struggle for the 1.4 Litre Corolla... and after the calm conditions on the coast, quite a surprise for a lump of lad like me to stand up and almost get blown over a cliff trying to take a picture. There are more spectacular spots, but you have to steal a quick look out the car window as there's not many places to stop.
