Another early morning and we head out to see what we can see of the US Naval Academy. The answer? Not much. We took the wrong turn and turned into the base rather than the visitors' centre. For some reason, the guard said that our drivers licences were the wrong type of identification and asked us very nicely to turn around and leave the base...lol!

So, we did what we were told. If you've read or seen any movies to do with spies, the military, etc, you would proabably be familiar with the whole situation. Nice try on our part! Am sure we are on security videos....

We turned up in Washington DC and went directly to the famous Union Station to fro off the car. In fact, there were lots of famous places that we were going to be seeing for the next few days.

We spent the afternoon walking around Washington, getting orientated and seeing some of the sights. We also booked onto a hop on hop off tour for the next couple of days. These were great in Boston and we expected just as good an experience here in DC.

As with New York City, so many sights were familiar. Our first afternoon here was full of surprises as we saw one famous landmark after another. Walking back to the apartment took us past the FBI building, down the mall, we saw Capital Hill in the distance, and took the opportunity to pop into the Museum of American History for a quick guided tour.

We got back to the apartment with great anticipation for the next few days in Washington.
