If I could choose to be a tree
I'd want you planted next to me
We'd keep each other company
Two better friends you'd never see

We'll share the moon
We'll share the sun
We'll name the stars
We'll have such fun
We'll grow until our growings done
We'll root together, love as one

A tree for you
A tree for me
Bonded in eternity
Of all the things I'd choose to be?
I'd choose you as my family

Ok, so this poem was sparked by a discussion that you can't choose your family Root together
Root together
. I say people can and DO choose their family.

In the websters dictionary:

family: Two or more people who share goals and values, have long-term commitments to one another; a person having kinship with another or others; A group of organisms related by certain points of resemblance in structure or development; A group of kindred or closely related individuals

Anyway, totally off topic but it came to mind...my friend Sonya used to say this and it always made me laugh so hard...

You can pick your friends and You can pick your nose,
But you can't pick your friends nose.
