Where I stayed
The weather forecast said it was going to be sunny today. When I looked outside in the morning it was. I had breakfast and got ready to go but by then it was overcast. I hung around the hotel a while and it started to look a bit better so I headed for a couple other luggage stores. By the time I got outside it was overcast again.
I found the first of the two luggage stores. They had a bag that looked acceptable. I went and checked the second, a place called Bic Camera. On my way to the luggage department I came across a display of turntables. I wanted to take a picture but, surprisingly for a camera store, I wasn't allowed. I continued on to their luggage department. They didn't have anything acceptable so I headed back to the first store.
I bought the bag. Luckily for me, it was on sale for 27,195 yen (about $293) instead of the list price of 38,850 yen (about $418). I was expecting a new one but I was given the floor sample, which seemed to be in fine shape.
The weather forecast had also called for high winds and blowing snow. It had been relatively calm before going into the store but the winds had picked up by the time I left. It was sometimes a bit of a struggle hanging onto the bag in the wind. It also started to snow and sleet.
It hadn't been very pleasant walking back to the hotel so I stayed in a while. I headed out in the evening to find something to eat. It was still a bit windy. I headed over to the ice sculpture of the event, the Susukino Ice Festival, and wandered around a while. I eventually found a restaurant, had dinner and headed back to the hotel.
