I checked out of my hotel in Waco and headed for Amarillo, TX. My goal was the art installation called Cadillac Ranch.
The drive through Texas was strange. Many of the towns I drove through looked well on their way to becoming ghost towns. I don't know if the recent droughts had anything to do with that. I didn't see any crops growing but it's January and they probably don't grow anything now.
It was cold and windy when I arrived at Cadillac Ranch, an art piece of a line of 10 old Cadillacs with their hoods stuck in the ground. I wandered out to the cars. You're welcome to paint the cars and many people do. There were a number of people busy spray painting when I first arrived. Unfortunately, the light was on the downwind side so the paint spray was blowing toward my camera. I waited and waited and waited until I was finally alone but by that point my hands were very cold and I was having trouble operating the camera. I took pictures for as long as I could stand the cold and then headed back to my car.
When I left Cadillac Ranch I headed for Las Vegas. I stopped in Moriarty, UT for the night.
