I had originally intended to stay at Lassen Volcanic National Park until tomorrow morning. Since my friend, Bill, flew into Reno today to join me at Burning Man in a couple days I decided I'd cut my time at the park a little short and meet him in Reno this afternoon.
I got up relatively early and headed for the King's Creek Falls Trailhead. A portion of the trail is currently closed and the slightly longer detour is around 3 1/2 miles round-trip. The hike out to the falls isn't too difficult but once at the falls the hike to a good location to get a picture is a little tougher. I was a little late getting there and part of the falls were already in shadow by the time I was taking pictures.
The hike back is mostly uphill so it's a bit tougher than the hike out but it's still not too difficult. When I got back to my car I headed for Reno. Bill arrived before me. We met at a Starbucks so we could use their Wi-Fi. We spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for Burning Man.
