I had a rock climbing lesson today with Eddie from Jackson Hole Mountain Guides in Jackson, WY, to get me ready for my climb of Granite Peak in about a week. The lesson was held at a hill in the Jackson Elk Refuge. I first climbed a route with a rating of 5.4 and then another with a rating of 5.6. The easiest route up Granite Peak, which is the route I'll be taking, has a rating of 5.4.  We then went to the top and I rappelled down a section with a rating of 5.3, climbed back up the same route and then rappelled down again.

We went back to the office where I went through a gear check with Mark Postle, who will be my guide for a five-day trip to try and climb Gannett Peak, the highest point in Wyoming.  I then drove to Dubois, WY and got a room for the night.  I'll be meeting Mark in the tiny town of Crowheart tomorrow morning and we'll start our adventure.
