I went to the Maker Faire today with my friend Bill. The event doesn't open to the public until tomorrow but we were able to get in since we had Booster tickets. There were few scheduled activities today and we weren't sure how long we'd be there. We wound up staying the entire day.
One of the scheduled activities was a talk and demonstration by Fritz Grobe and Stephen Voltz, the Coke & Mentos guys. They also showed a video of balls bouncing down a steep street in San Francisco, which was used as a Sony BRAVIA commercial. I got the impression listening to them that they were involved in making the video but after checking online I don't think they were. In any case, it's a great video. Here's a link:
Most of the booths were still only partially set up so it was difficult to really get a sense of what the Maker Faire is going to be like.
Our Booster ticket included entry to the Maker dinner for the participants in Maker Faire. I was expecting some sort of large, catered dinner but what we got was paella on the grounds where Maker Faire is being held. That was fine. We got to chat with some of the presenters and a few other attendees.
