I got up early and drove to the Paria Canyon Ranger Station to try and get a permit to be able to visit Coyote Butte North. The biggest attraction at Coyote Butte North is a feature called The Wave, which is a formation of wildly striped and curved sandstone.  I had earlier registered for the online lottery in which 10 permits are awarded but I wasn't successful so now my only option is the in-person lottery held every day at 9:00 where the other 10 daily permits are given out. Unfortunately, there were over 80 people vying for only 10 permits. I wasn't one of the lucky few.

I then went back to my hotel to catch up on my e-mail, etc. after being out of touch for over a week.

Permit for ?

A permit to visit Coyote Butte North. They also give out permits for Coyote Butte South, which are normally available upon request, and Paria Canyon, which I believe are given out on request.
