Show trip route
I made an appointment to have my car serviced and bought a ticket for Cirque du Soleil's 7:00pm Michael Jackson ONE show online. I had to pay full price since the discount ticket places said that the show was sold out. Then I headed over to the Toyota dealer, waited while they performed the work and went back to the hotel to get ready for the evening.
The music had started by the time I made it into the venue for the show in the Mandalay Bay casino. The casinos in Las Vegas are so big I frequently don't factor in enough time for parking and walking in from the garage. I found my seat before much of anything had really happened.
The sound system in the theater was quite impressive. I'm not sure I've heard a system that good in a theater that large before. As usual for Cirque du Soleil, the staging was impressive with all the set changes integrated seamlessly into the show. I'm not a huge Michael Jackson fan but I enjoyed the performance. The music had all been re-mixed so even the old songs sounded new. There were some costumes with LEDs in the show that looked like they were right off the playa. The show had some acrobatics but nothing like what I'd expect to see in one of their traveling shows.
I drove to the Wynn for my dinner reservation at Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare. The restaurant had three tasting menus but they were all very seafood and meat intensive and didn't look too appealing so I ordered off their a la carte menu. I ordered a couple vegetarian courses. I was told that their lasagnette con ragł di crostacei (“rags” of pasta, lobster, shrimp, crab, white wine, tomato) is their signature dish so I ordered that too. I looked over their wine list but they didn't have any dessert wines that looked appealing. I enjoyed the meal but it's too seafood-intensive for my tastes, which I should have known from the name.
