My family and I got up ridiculously early and drove to Balloon Fiesta Park.  There was some lightning on our drive there.  Not surprisingly, the lightning held up the balloons.  They eventually started going up shortly after dawn but, due to the weather, very few actually launched.  Most of them just inflated their balloons and stayed tethered.  There were lots of balloons with special shapes inflating so it was still interesting even though very few balloons flew.

After most of the balloons had deflated we went back to the hotel.  The plan was for all of us to come back in the evening but when the time came to leave it was just my sister and I.  It was supposed to be a Special Shapes Glowdeo.  The weather was fairly cooperative.  A lot of shaped balloons inflated.  Every few minutes the announcer would do a countdown for all the pilots to fire their burners and light up the balloons.  It's quite a sight.

We left when most of the balloons had deflated.  We got to the car and then got stuck in traffic.  We had intended to skip the fireworks show but we got to see it while we sat in the car.  We eventually made it back to the hotel.  We have to get up very early tomorrow for our balloon flight.
