My family and I went back to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta very early this morning.  It is the sixth day of the event but the third day for us since we took some time to go sightseeing.  The Glow this morning wasn't as interesting as it has been some evenings where they have the balloons tethered and they light all of the burners in unison.  They were lifting off as soon as they were ready and didn't seem to be trying to light up in unison.

Lots of balloons started inflating as it started getting light.  Today was billed as the Special Shape Rodeo and a large portion of the field was dedicated to the balloons with special shapes.  It's really quite a spectacle seeing all of the wild shapes inflating and flying around.

After the balloons had been flying for a while they started a flying competition.  Everyone was chased to the sides of the field and five poles with cards attached to their tops were set up at one end.  The balloons then maneuvered around by changing altitudes in an attempt to get close enough to one of the poles to grab a card.

We watched most of the flying competition and then headed back to the hotel.  We went back to Balloon Fiesta Park in the evening for a Special Shape Glowdeo but, unfortunately, it was too windy.  They moved up the time of the fireworks so we stayed for that show and then headed back to the hotel.
