I was up late checking e-mail and writing my blog so I got a late start today.  There are many attractions along the ALCAN between Watson Lake and Fort Nelson so I didn't expect to cover a lot of miles today.

My recent lucky streak with the weather ran out today.  It was overcast in the morning and started raining shortly after I hit the road.  The weather seemed to cause problems with my XM radio.  It didn't work very well today.

I got a couple more dings in my windshield today.  Oh, well.  I already have to get it replaced so it doesn't really matter much now.

I stopped at a couple of the falls but they weren't very interesting so I didn't stay long.  There's a park with hot springs.  I thought about taking a dip but I wanted to make it to Fort Nelson before it got too dark since there's a lot of wildlife along this stretch of road and it looked like it would get dark early with the heavy clouds so I kept going.  There are supposed to be a some hoodoos and a precariously balanced rock but it was raining too heavily to see them when I passed by and I somehow missed the mineral lick.

I did see some wildlife.  There were a number of bison along the road.  I stopped and took some pictures from inside the car.  I also saw some mountain goats.  I stopped and took some pictures of them too but since I haven't heard any warnings about them I got out of the car.  A couple of them let me get very close and I was getting some good pictures but then a noisy truck came along and scared them down the hill.  They were on their way back up but the rain picked up so I got back in the car and continued on.

I made it to Fort Nelson and found a room for the night.  I still have 33 hours 16 minutes and 2,082 miles to go to reach Telluride.
