We got up early, ate breakfast and started packing up.  We had a 9:00 appointment to be picked up.  The guide called the air taxi company by satellite phone around 8:30.  The weather was terrible in Talkeetna and, unfortunately, where we were too.  A flight wasn't going to be coming any time soon.

We waited around for the weather to improve, which it sometimes did but never for long.  We were lying around in our tents waiting in the early afternoon when we heard a plane.  It didn't look like flying conditions to us but a plane landed by our camp.  It wasn't our plane but it was from the same air taxi company and the pilot reported back that it was OK to fly.  We finished packing and hauled our gear over to the runway.  Our pilot arrived soon after.

Our pilot didn't seem to agree with the earlier pilot's assessment of the weather.  We quickly loaded our gear and rushed us onto the plane so he could get out before the weather got worse.  We found out we were very lucky to get out today.  The forecast for the next few days is for much worse weather and we could have been stuck out there for days.

After arriving back in Talkeetna we sorted out or gear and loaded up our cars.  The other student left for his home a couple hours away and I headed for a hotel in town.
