Things went better today.  I first went to the James Garfield Monument in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, OH.  It's a very nice late Victorian building with some very nice mosaics inside.  It was difficult to get a decent picture of the outside since they were setting up tents to celebrate the 120th anniversery of the dedication of the building this weekend.

John D. Rockefeller lived most of his life in Cleveland and is buried very close to the James Garfield Monument.  His gravesite is marked with a large oblisk.  I also visited the Wade Chapel with an interior done by Louis Comfort Tiffany.  People may not think of Cleveland as an important place now but it was in  the late 1800's.

My next stop was the Peter Lewis Building designed by Frank Gehry on the Case Western Reserve University campus.  I've seen several Gehry buildings before but this was my first opportunity to go inside one.  The interior matched the exterior with wavy walls but in what seemed to be sheetrock or wood panels instead of stainless steel or brick.

The lighting wasn't good for photographing the Peter Lewis Building so I went over to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens to see the Kohl Gate designed by Albert Paley.  The gates are 60 feet long and 15 feet high and are made out of thick COR-TEN steel cut and bent into stylized leaf shapes.

I killed a little time until the lighting got better and then went back to the Peter Lewis Building to get some pictures before heading back to my room.

Tomorrow I'll be finishing up in Cleveland and heading for Toledo.
