We went over to Otteson's Turquoise in the morning Thursday, 5/13/10.  Even though it wasn't one of their regular days for a mine tour of the Royston Mine they agreed to take us.  We paid our $100 and then went back to the hotel to get ready.  Dean Otteson came by and we followed him out to the mine.  For the $100 we got to sort through the mine tailings for three hours.

I wasn't sure how I'd do spotting turquoise with my color blindness.  I could see some of the colors that we were looking for but there were other colors that I couldn't identify at all.  In spite of my difficulties, I managed to find quite a few promising pieces.

At the end of our three hours we headed back to the store to go through our finds.  Dean did some rough cuting and polishing of some of the more promising pieces.  Both Jim and I had some good pieces.  I left some of them with Otteson's to have them turned into jewelry.

Since we can't climb Boundary Peak, Jim changed his flight home to tomorrow.  We're going to go to the Las Vegas airport tomorrow and I'll leave him there. We'll turn in our SUV, I'll pick up a car and I'll drive to Flagstaff to attempt to climb Humphreys Peak, the highest point in Arizona.
