Front Sight kept us very busy during the entire 4-day class so I didn't have a chance to write.  It's a very intense class.  Your days start at 7:30 with dry-firing drills and run pretty much continuously until 6:45 except for the day when you do a night shoot, in which case you finish a little earlier, then leave for a little while and then come back at 7:30 until around 10:00.

Tuesday, 5/11/10, I took a one-day concealed carry class, which was largely listening to lectures and filling out paperwork.  While I did that Jim went back to Las Vegas to exchange our rental car for an SUV.  After the CCW class I wanted to use up the roughly 100 rounds I had left over.  They had one range open that we could use.  I really just wanted to quickly shoot some targets.  Unfortunately, it was more intense instruction.  Jim showed up and watched while we did drills.  I was there a couple hours - and still had most of my 100 rounds of ammo.  The instruction was almost all dry-firing drills.  I gave away the ammo and we got in the car and headed for Tonopah.  We arrived at the Clown Motel around 10:00.

Jim and I were here at the Clown last May for our first attempt to climb Boundary Peak, the highest point in Nevada.  We ran into problems with the weather and left without climbing it.  We're back, again, this year to give it another try.  Unfortunately, the weather is looking like a problem this year too.  While last year the problem was thunderstorms this year the problem is snow.  When we arrived yesterday evening it was very cold and windy and there was snow on the ground at elevations as low as 3,000 feet.

Today we're going to try driving to the trailheads and see just what we're up against.
