The journey to Greymouth from Christchurch on the TranzAlpine most definately beats the northern line and Thameslink scenery I can tell you!!! The TranzAlpine is world renowned as 'The Great New Zealand Rail Adventure'. One minute you are surrounded by mountains with snow and the next with huge patchwork farmlands with heards of sheep and cows munching on grass that looks better than any premiership stadium!. The TranzAlpine winds its way over massive viaducts, through spectacular gorges and river valleys, before tracking slowly across the country's greatest mountain range, the Southern Alps.

There's not much going on in Greymouth but, fantastic homemade cheesecake!! and a very eeiry town!. We stayed in a converted church which was freezing cold and all the doors creeked which was a laugh considering you woke up 8 people in the dorm room when you needed to pop to the loo!

One interesting fact came to light though...I've realised that the chinese/japanese people eat very well in hostels!!!. They are always busy in the kitchens preparing the same types of food you would order in your local chinese takeway!!

enough of this random typing!...end, stop.
