Where do I start? I've had the most amazing time since I left on 17th Nov 2003, Hong Kong, Bangkok, the beautiful islands of Thailand, the hugeness and diversity of Australia......and now it's time to start another mini adventure in the action packed, dare devilish, bungee jumping, sky diving, river rafting, glacier walking and tender lamb and roast potatoes land of New Zealand!! :o)
I immediately felt comfortable and almost at home in a way when I arrived in Christchurch. My first impression was that it reminded me of home, it's more english than england here. The weather is also similiar, the towns look like they do back home (Kistie tells me it's all like Devon!). Christchurch is a the 2nd largest city in New Zealand, its very green and picturesq with mountain ating like curtains behind everything. Having walked around it for 4 days you soon get the feel of this very small place with Cathedral Sqaure being the main focus point. There are roads jutting off in every direction which really did confuse my brain to be honest - I'm awfull with directions at the best of times
With a lack of sun, beaches and the notable chill factor, Olivia and I approached Christchurch with our own two feet for the first couple of days before Kirstie arrived on Tuesday 1st March. We did some chillin out in our lovely hostel called "Stonehurst" which had that fresh apple pie home baking smell to it!! We walked around the town for hours and visited the Botanical Gardens; Christchurch is famous for being known as the "Garden City" of New Zealand - and it most certainly is - my nana would have loved this place (being a flower lover). We did a trip to the Christchurch Museum which was all about the city hundreds off years ago - that killed off a few hours whilst the heavan's opened outside!!
Tuesday 1st March - Kirstie has landed! to be honest I was kinda shocked that she looked as well as she did after a mamoth 25 hour flight! It was also weird to see Kirstie walk out of customs with 4 policeman around her too (joking!!). It was just over 3 months ago that Kirstie said she'd be coming out to NZ and after the odd phone call here and there, she's now here!!.
